About Okky Oei M.D.

Okky Oei MD graduated from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1971 and started his career practicing family medicine with an emphasis on sports medicine and pain management.

Board Certified family practice physician with more than 40 years of experience treating thousands of patients with varying degrees of acute and chronic pain.

In 1984 Dr. Oei moved his young family to Scottsdale, AZ where he started a Family Practice. Because of his own issues with back pain and not being able to take any kind of prescription pain medication, he looked into non invasive ways to treat and help the body to heal by studying and finding the source of the pain rather than only treating the symptoms.

Dr. Oei refined his holistic and integrative approach to pain treatments which embodies the compassion, dignity and highest quality of care that patients deserve. His therapists are well trained and care about our patients.

A Comfortable Environment

The Hope Clinic of Integrative Medicine is a unique practice designed to provide a welcoming and relaxing environment for our patients. Our office is not a revolving door of patients, but rather a place where patients are known by name and appreciated for their presence. We invite you to come and meet our staff.

The Hope Clinic of Integrative Medicine offers a unique approach to patient care at a time when health care is increasingly impersonal and bottom-line driven.

The primary focus of Dr. Oei’s and our therapists has been on identifying ways to help patients heal from medical conditions, injuries and pain without the use of surgery, medication or invasive treatment methods.

A: The number of treatments needed varies based on the type of pain the patient is experiencing. A: There are no side effects associated with the treatments. After treatments, patients may experience a feeling similar to achiness after a workout, which is a part of the body’s healing process.
A: The treatments are not painful. Patients may experience slight tingling at the treatment site. At the initial consultation, a demonstration of the treatment method can be done on the patient’s hand to illustrate the feeling.
A: Hope Clinic treatments often result in acupuncture-like effects, as many of the treated areas are similar to acupuncture points. The main difference is that Hope Clinic treatments are completely non-invasive.
A: Treatment regiments are customized for individual patients. Generally, for out of town patients, we usually recommend daily treatments over a five-day period. For in town patients, we usually recommend a treatment every two to three days initially. Muscle memory is 72 hours and repeating treatments within that timeframe supports muscle re-education.
A: Let your body guide your activity after a treatment. Some patients feel the need to rest more, which allows the repair and restoration of cells to take place. We encourage patients not to over-exert themselves with the relief of pain, as it takes time for the body to adjust and restore itself. We highly recommend a good stretching routine to help “re-educate” the muscles. This routine can be provided as part of a treatment package.
A: We work with many major insurance companies including Medicare. Please call to confirm if we accept your insurance coverage.
A: Most pain resulting from a soft tissue injury or condition tends to respond well to treatments. However, due to individual differences, treatment results will vary.
